Established in the year 1947, was set up at Lahore in the year 1882. The university is both affiliated and residential. Currently it has 200+ colleges in the state and UT combined. Having a long-lasting tradition of 133 years, the university has established its expertise in various fields namely - humanities, social sciences, technology etc.
The university was designed by Pierre Jeanneret under the guidance of Le Corbusier, the architect of Punjab. During the year 1966, the university’s regional centers were in the state of Rohtak, Shimla and Jalandhar.
Presently there are 73 deartments unver the university and affiliating colleges in multiple districts namely Muktsar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur and Kauni. In addition, there is the Vishveshvaranand Vishwa Bandhu Institute of Sanskrit and Indological Studies at Hoshiarpur.
The University School of Open Learning was established in 1971. The university offers a wide range of courses in various domains - UG and PG courses, professional courses etc.
Eligibility
(i) A Bachelor's or Master Degree in any discipline of Panjab University or a degree of any other University which has been recognized by Panjab University as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in aggregate; provided that:In case of candidates having Bachelor's degree of the through Modern Indian Language [Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi (Gurmukhi Script)] and or in a Classical Language (Sanskrit/Persian/Arabic) or degree of any other University obtained in the same manner recognized by the Syndicate. 50% marks in the aggregate shall be calculated by taking into account full percentage of marks in all the papers in Language excluding theadditional optional paper, English and the elective subject taken together. OR
(ii) A pass in final examination conducted by the (a) Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England,
(b) Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India or England, and (c) Institute of Company Secretariesof India.
(iii) AMIE examination with 50% marks or more after having passed the diploma examination with 60% marksor above and have at least 5 years research/teaching of professional experience.
Concession of 5% marks will be given in the eligibility requirements for SC/ST/BC/PwD candidates.
The candidate must be employed / self-employed at the time of admission.
